6 caratsDoes this 6 carat ring make my watch seem tiny by comparison?
I'm in Love.
STONESThis is how I buy diamonds out of white little slips. It's not really too exciting, till you open the diamond paper.
Me trying on the Dominique.
Downtown Jewelry MarketSometimes I hit the jewelry mart downtown in search of something colorful.
GINORMOUSHUGE and so fabulous.
Round Halo BiggerRound around a big round. I know it's been done but it's so gorgeous it's going to be done again.
RadiantI like to hold the stones before they get set. You know because I love them so.
Emerald Cut Eternity Band. This is what it looks like - it's like a skeleton waiting for the body.
How clients decideI bring stones in and we examine them. Sometimes clients want the perfect cut, other times, the color and clarity are what matter. And, frankly all women want size.
6 carat roundIt's a J/K color but boy is it huge.
Choosing pink sapphiresJust selecting large pink sapphires for a clients 5 stone right hand ring.
CUSTOM braceletThe clasp is a heart and the links are infinite signs in white diamonds with yellow diamond connectors in yellow gold. This bracelet is amazing! The client and I designed it together. Then the CAD designers made it even more fabulous.
The perfect ringThis is the ring worn by the wife of a master jewelry maker. It's simply divine in person, my iPhone snap cannot do it justice.
Men's BandsThank God men's wedding bands are far more fashion forward than they used to be.
Stackable bandsThese bands are so much sparkle and happy in a smallish package.
At the diamond setters bench.Diamond setters benches are so not glamorous, funny enough it's where the diamonds get pounded on, but wax on, lit up with a lighter, they get abused but they end up going to the polisher next where they come back to life.
Yellow DiamondSometimes when I try on bigger diamonds, my own wedding set gets an inferiority complex. Especially when it's a ginormous natural fancy yellow diamond.
Because size mattersAt the factory someone is always measuring diamonds. ALWAYS. because to have beautiful settings all the diamonds in rows need to be the exact same size so it's uniform, and gorgeous. if the diamond isn't the right size it goes into the unwanted pile.
The unwanted pileCan you even believe these are rejects. Yes, they are. Beautiful rejects.
Melting GoldGold is money. We melt it down, take it to the refiner. This is how hot it has to be to melt it down. Sparks are flying ....
Hello Square One. Nice to see you.
I try them on.I hate when my clients have tiny fingers, because I have big ones, and when I try them on they don't go past the knuckle.
SapphiresI often buy matching sapphires for wedding rings, earrings. Blue Sapphires are so lovely. I buy most all of them out of Thailand.
PearsJust big pears. 2.5 or so on the left and 3.8 carats on the right.
Pink sapphires and diamonds.Me. taking pics of sample bands.
GOLDThis is a very expensive piece of gold. It looks like play dough. IT's going to the refiner. I think he paid me $3K for it.
RAPPERS DELIGHTThese are so huge. I would wear them for sure but they went off to a client. 5 carats each ear.
Eternity.Just off the metalsmith's bench this eternity band makes me swoon.
HALO.I love how this rounded square Halo makes this stone even more fabulous. My manicure is finally on point as a side note. It rarely is.
PHOTOSHOOT.Diamond bands in front of the lens. Me behind it trying to figure out things like aperture.
So squareSo minimal and beautiful and so much bigger than mine. Not that I care by the way. Ahem.
Trying it all on.Pink sapphires and diamonds. Once again, bands gorgeous and tiny, my fingers have no chance of trying these on. But still I try.
Diamond Earrings. Most people wear crap diamonds in their ears. These are not that. I suggest when you buy diamonds for your ears be discerning. Buy at least an SI quality, good cut, GH color or better. Because what are you going to do if you get tired of them? You will be able to make them into a ring. If you buy I quality (NEVER!) you have to keep them in your ears for all eternity. and we women change our minds so often. (pug not included)
Gemgal's Gift. The chief production guru and owner of the jewelry manufacturing company, made these for me as a gift. We used my old diamonds, and ordered in the most beautiful blue sapphires from Thailand. They were simply worth the wait. I wear these almost every single day.
Laser Cutting GoldThe genius guys at the factory are laser cutting parts of a custom made bracelet for me out of gold. We are trying it first on stainless steel. Practice makes perfect.
Rings for Giants. Not really, they are bracelets, but don't they look big?
#Kumbaya with Rocks
Oval Eternity. Each stone? Just shy of a carat. That's a whole lotta oval love.
Shooting a photo of a photoshoot.
so BIG. so BLUE.
I style. I stack. I try on.
Halo e'rywhere.
Photoshoot. Because I hate doing dishes.
5 carat round brilliant
Ruby and Diamond Anniversary.I love the meaning of this ring. One diamond for each family member, one ruby for each decade spent together.
